Maarten van Wijhe is one of the 38 researchers to receive a Sapere Aude: DFF-Starting Grant this year. The project is called “Post-pandemic infectious disease landscapes: interactions across time and space”. The project will focus on how pandemics affect other infectious diseases. According to Van Wijhe, there will be a new pandemic, and we need to be prepared not just for the pandemic itself, but also its consequences on other diseases. To do this, they will dive into the high quality Danish historical health records from around the 1889-92 and 1918-21 pandemics and study disease interactions.
