GREATLEAP is has reserved a few limited spaces for members to join the hands-on course, ‘Data Management for Historians’, which is offered by the research school N.W. Posthumus. It offers a unique opportunity to master the foundational skills needed for effective and reproducible quantitative research. You will learn to transform raw historical records—such as prices, wages, or demographic data—into actionable insights while adhering to the FAIR data principles.
Through interactive lectures, tutorials, and self-study, the course covers:
Understanding the quantitative research cycle and data pipelines.
Programming in R and SPARQL to digitize, clean, and explore data.
Transparent and reproducible data management using open-access tools.
Reporting on data management and producing small data stories.
